New England Junior Rugby gears up for 2010

Armidale Rugby President Ian Lloyd reports that the planning for the 2010 New England Junior Rugby Season is now well under way. Moves are currently being made to confirm dates and venues for the 2010 junior representative rugby season and there are some exciting developments. Applications for coaches and managers for teams in the 13, 14, 15 & 16 years age groups are now being called for to assist with the development of this season’s exciting program.

Chairperson of the Junior Blues, Phil Stacy has high hopes for the expansion of the representative program for 2010. “This year, Armidale took the step to send two representative teams to the NSW Junior Country Championships in Moree with outstanding success. New England had seven players selected for NSW Country in the 14’s and 15 yrs teams and this year we are looking to expand our program. While details are not yet confirmed, we are looking to send 4 teams to the Country rugby championships from the 13’s to the 16’s age groups. There are a number of outstanding players in our region and we are doing what we can to create a representative pathway for them. Again we thank Will and Paula Moloney from Commander New England for their continued support for the season in 2010.”

At a recent meeting, the committee has announced training and selection trials will begin in November in preparation for the coming season. They will start on Sunday 8th of November from 2:00 – 4:00 pm on Backfield at TAS for 5 Sundays, concluding for the year on December the 6th with a BBQ and announcement of train on squads for 2010.
